Carry This- 50s Christmas

Pretty 50s designer Holiday clutch signed NETTIE ROSENSTEIN.

I know there is going to be an interesting back story on her. See the link for a cool article printed in TIME 1942. I'll do some more research and post about her success as a female entrepreneur in the 30s and 40s.

Love the clutch too. Pretty, bright, fun and festive. A great price with no bidding yet! Snap this girl up.

Vintage "rick-rack"-o-licious

I simply could *NOT* resist the 50s kitsch of this vintage holiday skirt. No party would be complete without a little post modern holiday June Cleaver represented.

The silliest things can make your heart swoon sometimes; this was clearly handmade with a loving and festive heart.

The ball fringe hem is almost delicious enough to eat!

Dame Holiday 2007

Okay, I admit it, I've caught the holiday party bug. It all started a couple weeks ago in a local shop when I found a pair of vintage red plaid wool trousers for a certain friend of mine. They were the spitting image of a pair in the Tommy Hilfiger Holiday 07 collection that I had days earlier earmaker for her. The vintage pair were a perfect fit!

I was smitten.

I'll be posting various party wears found from any which place they find me. The key is the POV. This is the first official Dame Holiday inspiration collection. Maybe I'll get something of my own design in. But for now, this is totally Dame!

Vintage Victor Costa, measuring in at about a size two. The condition is pristine, the fabric is totally now and the detailing is darling, down to the matching cuff buttons and the 'not lost' belt.

Perfect dress for a midnight kiss on New Years Eve.

Carry This- Not so secret anymore

I have a secret love for ‘carpet bags’ and I think this one looks like something off the shelf at Barney's or Neiman's… I adore the texture and the richness of the color combinations. I've been seeing more and more fabric bags, printed and embellished, in the winter collections and I think this trend will carry over into spring.

Store the leather staple. The coming trend for accessories is PERSONALITY

At a generous 11" by 11" this is a statement piece

Carry this with your Argyle

Some days it's hard to find a decent vintage bag on eBay for under 40 bucks. Other days scores of handbags from the adorable to the sophisticated roll by unnoticed. 'Carry This' is a weekly showcase for vintage handbags that have contained and carried the minutia of every day lives and would be quite content to continue to do so. Hangbags, the workhorse of the vintage world.

Why I love J.Crew

Well I figure it is time to christen this blog:

Leave it to me, to pay homage to most preppy line on the planet. Not to mention shopping in any brick and morter store is something akin to waiting in line to buy Britney Spears concert tickets. Ironically, the online and catalogue experience screams Fresh, Luxury and Leisure and they've managed to capture multiple markets without diluting their band equity. Smart I say, almost even interesting.

But really why I love J.Crew.... No one rocks a POV as well, it's fascinating and seductive and , like a trainwreck, I find it difficult to look away.

Yes, it's Cashmere.
