Malphi Rustic Chic- Daydream of the day

There are so many things I like about this quaint, pretty vintage countryside inspired line, that I hardly know where to start.

I'll just start off by saying that 'today' I'm a tad stressed. Generally I'm a go with the flow kinda girl but today the next few months seem positively overwhelming. Somehow just daydreaming about trouncing about in wool and bloomers carrying a feed bag, picking the flowers, baking the pie, and listening to the wind in the trees, is enough to catch a little mental relaxation.

I don't know; could I give it all up for an English Country life? If like me, you are on the fence, then you can certainly daydream with accoutrements. I especially love the Dana Ashley dress and the Utility Apron. (in addition to the bloomers) The Mary Beth Apron Dress is exquisitely detailed, and I've been trying to figure the pattern configurations on that one.

Everything is handmade, they sell patterns and craft kits and also sell on Etsy for those of us not living on the English country side.

A little Jane Austin could be good for us Yanks!

The Inspiration Trench - Because I'm sure it isn't done raining yet

So I was lulled over to the JCrew site with the promise of 20% off of sale items, and then I saw this oh so cool and feminine little trench. I saw this online when it was $198, now it's on sale for $99. Good deal, I'm sure.

Wouldn't you know that Dame just happens to have the vintage version of this trench, the only difference is that ours is Silver which makes it much better IMO! Not to mention it's way more cost effective. Seriously same jacket, with a funky little 70s/80s vintage label. It's sized at about a Large.

Stop by the Market this Sun and check it out. We'll be there for the Baked Fresh event, which will be extra special with live music, food and all kinds of extras.

Local Talent- Dame of the day

Hello Pretty things,

Jessie Randall, creator and purveyor of Loeffler Randall , is a local girl from Worcester.

I love her monochromatic, modern sensibility.

Her boutique may be in Soho, but while you can take the girl out of New England you can't, well you know how that goes.

TV Fashion Fix: Not

Looking for a t.v. fashion fix I tuned into the season premier of 'lipstick jungle' last night hoping to get a glimpse of some fabulous NYC fashion ala 'Sex and the City'. What a huge disappointment, and a complete dearth of separates (I'm not even going to comment on the name) three of New York's most powerful women? I've never seen anything more generic, cliche and dull in my life. (Sure put the artist in a beret, maybe a little animal print and call it a day) And those dainty frocks they keep putting on Brooke Shields? God forbid a character have a bold assertive presence, Kim Cattrall broke the mold.

After seeing this promoted on Project Runway, I thought maybe the show had a chance. Not a fantasy in sight, too realistic, although I maintain that the closets of wealthy New York women would be more interesting than that. Yawn...

Fall for DAME (I've been so waiting to use that line)

ok, ok, So I know I've been promising pictures of the fall vintage collection for ages now, but truth be told all of my extra energy was spent preparing for the South End Open Studios weekend at the Market this past Sat and Sun.

As usual we teamed up with Artifaktori of Davis Square to present a TRIPLE sized booth of vintage proportion. The weather was gorgeous, the market was packed and the wost thing about working the entire event was not being able to shop. On our corner alone there was fantastic silver, pottery and art. I'll come back with names when I dig out the fliers I collected. But for now back to the Vintage.

This was Dame's biggest weekend yet and the Fall Vintage was FLYING off the racks. I'm really sad I do not have pictures of some of the gorgeous dresses, coats and accessories that sold. The most popular items were the 50s dresses, high waisted skirts and frilly blouses. The *Mad Men* look is killer right now, did you see the Emmy's? Christina Hendricks, is as stunning and voluptuous as her character on the show. Peggy, (I love that dress! and P.S. Dame is showing that exact silhouette in a sexy black velveteen) Elisabeth Moss, is so adorably quirky and pretty.

I loved seeing my repeat customers. You know who you are! At this stage in the business it feels unbelievably special to see customers love the clothes and come back for more. A stunning early 60s carmel/taupe floral brocade swing coat went to the perfect woman, (and I'm not just saying that b/c she had fabulous short red hair and funky glasses, it was a perfect fit). The early 50s handkerchief circle skirt and the ultra pretty early 50s pleated to perfection bird printed cotton dress (a personal favorite of mine) also went to some great women.

I'll be working my best show more of these great looks. We've also got a great selection of sculptural, avant garde silk dresses in the prettiest jewel tones, some great vintage leather including bags & pin up heels. There are more 50s dresses, as well as great looks from a variety of eras.

We'll be back on October 5th with more of the same and a special selection of items for the "Baked Fresh theme". Holiday looks, we have, but will be shown later in Oct at SoWa or possibly a Nov Private Studio Sale. If you would like to stay updated, sign up on the Dame events list on the sidebar to the right.

Thanks again for shopping Vintage and making Dame look so good!!

Gray Day- The more things change- or something like that

I've been eyeing gray shoes and boots for the last year or so and for some strange reason, I still do not own a pair. This is mostly attributed to my inability to pick just one. There are usually several or more-plus a couple, pairs of shoes or boots that I am lusting over at any one time. A far cry from my college days when I had one pair classic black Docs, (the kind with the yellow stitching, the smooth sole and three lacing holes with no grommets). And, I wore them EVERY DAY.

I think I found the boot that might just bring me back to Docs.... It really doesn't get anymore urban cowgirl than this.

Ready for Fall

So it's been a while since I've extolled my love for JCrew. I'm totally loving their fall line to date, I have a virtual shopping cart full of pretty blouses, high waisted pencil skirts, rich colors and dark florals, and don't even get me started on the shoes and cashmere!

DAME is showing these looks and more in fabulously chic one of a kind vintage pieces. Some of my personal favorites include a camel cowl neck cashmere sweater dress, a purple keyhole tie neck sweater dress and a high buttoned detailed waist black leather skirt paired with any one of our pretty frilly blouses.

We are also showing a great selection of trenches, think royal blue, teal, pink and the best silver ruffled trench you ever did see; sculptural dresses in brilliant silks and slouchy wool jackets.

Come to SoWa on 9/14 to check out the DAME look!
